This week’s 8:30 rumor…

Here in Branson, it’s long been a custom that if there isn’t a rumor circulating by 8:30, we’ll start one.  And this week’s 8:30 rumor? The Branson TriLakes area is the best place to be for entrepreneurs looking to start a new business. That’s especially true this week as it’s Small Business Week in Branson. Here are a couple of opportunities you should take if you want to start your own business. This article was originally published on KRZK’s hometowndailynews.com.

BRANSON, Mo. — Each year the U.S. Small Business Administration takes the opportunity to highlight the impact of outstanding entrepreneurs and small business owners through the “National Small Business Week.”

This year, University of Missouri Extension, Taney County SBTDC and the Taney County Partnership will host two events to celebrate “Small Business Week” in the Branson area.

“The goal is to engage the small business community and help local entrepreneurs start and manage their businesses successfully,” said Chrystal Irons, business development specialist with University of Missouri Extension.

FIRST STEPS WORKSHOP

“Starting a Small Business: The First Steps,” will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday, May 13, at Hawthorn Bank, 4675 N. Gretna Rd, Branson. The program is free to Taney County residents and small business owners thanks to a sponsorship by the Taney County Partnership (TCP).  The cost for non-Taney County residents is $15.

“This program is designed specifically for those who are thinking about a new business venture.  Participants will learn about the importance of planning, discuss legal and regulatory requirements and identify sources of funding,” said Irons.

Successful entrepreneur, Stephanie Barney of Lightspeed Electrical Services, will be on hand to share her experiences overcoming challenges small businesses face.
